Any Home, Any Era
Older homes come with their own electrical quirks: undersized panels, outdated wiring methods, missing grounding, and circuits that weren't built for today's loads. We've worked in homes from every decade and know what to look for, what needs to be brought up to code, and how to do it without tearing apart everything that's already working.

Why Current Electric
Renovation electrical needs to be done right the first time. Once the drywall goes up, fixing mistakes is expensive. Current Electric is owner-led by Bert, a licensed electrician with over a decade of experience across homes of every era. We show up on schedule, communicate clearly with you and your contractor, and do work that passes inspection the first time.
FAQ
Any work that involves new wiring, moving circuits, adding outlets, or changes to your panel requires a licensed electrical contractor in Ontario. This includes kitchen and bathroom renovations, basement finishing, and additions. Unpermitted electrical work can affect your home insurance and create problems when you sell.

Yes. We have experience with homes from every era, including properties with knob-and-tube wiring. We'll assess what needs to be replaced, what can remain, and what your insurance provider requires, and give you a clear picture before any work starts.
Most renovation electrical work in Ontario requires an ESA permit. This includes new circuits, panel changes, and wiring in kitchens, bathrooms, and finished basements. We pull the permit and coordinate the inspection as part of the job, so you have the documentation you need.
Typically twice. We do the rough-in during the framing stage, before insulation and drywall go up. We return for the finish stage once drywall is complete to install devices, fixtures, and connect everything. We coordinate the timing with your GC to keep things moving.
Yes. Secondary suites require their own circuits, smoke detector wiring, egress lighting, and often a panel upgrade or sub-panel. We handle the full electrical scope and ensure it meets Ontario Building Code and ESA requirements.
